Overview
Kraken is a glove added on May 12, 2023 and is obtained through the Escape The Abyss badge. Visually, the glove appears to have a turquoise color and pink octopus tentacles for its texture.
Obtainment
To get the Escape the Abyss badge, players need to equip the Squid glove and get slapped into the void by a fish or Killerfish user.
Note: When you first enter the server, you’ll have to wait 5 minutes before you can enter The Abyss.
Once you're in The Abyss, the screen turns dark blue for three seconds, then the player is on a ship in the ocean. Everything has a dark blue hue to it. A boss fight will start after a few seconds, and a blue health bar will appear at the top of the screen showing the boss’s name; "The Kraken."
Attacks
After 3 seconds, 8 tentacles appear around the ship, 4 on each side. The tentacles attack by slamming down on the ship's columns (4 columns total.) Each attack takes 2 seconds - 1 to slam down and 1 to rise back up. Only one tentacle attacks each column at a time, so the other tentacle on the opposite side does not attack.
The Kraken attacks 2 or 3 columns at once, always leaving at least one safe spot. Orange outlines show where the tentacles will strike. Getting hit deals 30 knockback and takes away 25% of your health. (Falling off the ship or losing your health will kill you and you will spawn in the lobby.)
Tentacles attack every 3-4 seconds for 2-4 times, and stay down for 5 seconds afterward. Each hit on the Kraken deals about 5% damage to the health bar.
When half of The Kraken's health is depleted, it will start attacking faster. Defeating the Kraken rewards you with the Kraken glove.
If you die, there will be a 5-minute cooldown before you can re-attempt the boss fight.
This is not obtainable in private servers. The Abyss is accessible, but defeating the Kraken will not reward you with the badge.
Tips
1. Be alert: The Kraken often attacks with three tentacles at once, making it very hard to dodge them without incredibly fast reflexes. Because of this, some luck is required to win.
2. Keep moving: Try running around to avoid the tentacles. They target your current position, so don’t stay still for too long.
3. Hit between the tentacles: If two tentacles land close to each other, try to slap in the gap between them. This will deal double damage to The Kraken due to its colliding hitboxes.
4. Stay away from the tentacles: Keeping your distance from the tentacles is crucial, as their hitbox is slightly larger than the orange outline displayed.
5. Zoom out: Zooming out helps you see all the attacking tentacles and the best spots to run to.
6. Count the attacks: Keep track of how many times The Kraken has attacked. In the first phase, it strikes 3-4 times before it becomes vulnerable, and in the second phase, it hits 4-6 times.
7. Disable camera shake: Turning off the camera shake can make it easier to see where the tentacles are attacking. Leaving the shake on can be very distracting while trying to beat the boss.
8. Stay in the middle: Try to stay in the middle of the ship, as there are no barriers to protect you from falling into the ocean and dying.
9. Move to the side: If you find yourself in the middle of three incoming tentacles, move to the side from where one of the tentacles is coming. Instead of dying, you'll only lose a bit of health.
Ability
Kraken has an ability called "Hand of the Abyss," which summons a giant tentacle 10 studs in front of you that slams forward and knockbacks players within its reach (47 studs). You can see the range of this move marked by an orange outline. When the tentacle strikes, it also creates a small crack on the ground where it slams down. The tentacle gives 
1 per player hit (increases with multipliers).

GLOVE TIP: You can perform combos by slapping a player and then using your ability right after. This works well because the ability can still hit players who are ragdolled. Additionally, you can use this ability to keep players at a distance since it has a large area of effect (AoE) and knocks them back.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Good power and speed.
- The tentacle can reach far so you can hit players from far away. This can allow you to fight at a preferable range.
- The ability has great knockback, allowing for easy kills.
- You can set up combos with this, such as slapping someone and then using the ability.
- The hitbox is slightly larger than the orange rectangle (this also goes for the boss fight).
- The tentacle gives a slap for each person it hits, making it decent for grinding slaps.
- Great for crowd control, as it can hit multiple people.
- Can be used to kill people at the edge without risking getting too close.
- The ability has a short cooldown, being a mere 10 seconds.
- You can still summon a tentacle during Timestop, which you can use for self-defense.
- You can walk the line of your tentacle hazard indicator to safely get back into center.
- The ability can bypass buddies, Blocked, Elude, Shield, and Ultra Instinct.
- The ability can also hit Blink shadow clone and the user at the same time.
Cons
- Reverse can counter Kraken's ability.
- Despite having Dual's passive, kraken cannot slap a Blink shadow clone and user at the same time
- The ability cannot be used while ragdolled.
- The ability cannot be used midair.
- Gloves that have speed boosts can easily avoid the tentacles, such as Speedrun.
- Gloves that can just teleport or phase away really fast like Phase can avoid the tentacle easily.
- Spawning Tentacle late after a slap stops ability from being a true combo against quick gloves such as Phantom.

Trivia
- This is the first glove that is obtained through a boss fight, and the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth being rob, Hunter, Relude, Avatar, Poltergeist, Santa, Jerry and Swordfighter.
- During testing, you could access the Abyss by throwing yourself into the void using fish's ability.
- This glove is based on the mythical sea monster called the Kraken, a giant squid/octopus in Nordic mythology.
- This glove, fish, Killerfish, Squid, Lure, Angler and Swashbuckler are the only gloves related to sea life.
- This is the third glove to have a unique power stat of 53, rather than 50, 52, 55, or 60.
- There was a bug where if you equip Squid and go to the Default Only Arena, jump to the lower arena, and follow the process above, you will be able to teleport to the ship while having Default glove, which makes the boss easier to defeat, as you could use the ability to dodge the attacks easier. This bug was patched a day after the glove was added.
- There is a bug with when the Kraken begins attacking. It will sometimes attack before its tentacles have risen and can even attack before you're able to see or move.
- When a tentacle hits the ground, it makes the ground look cracked for a few seconds.
- This seems to currently be broken. However, it may just be a visual bug.
- Before the Slicer Update, it had 10 speed in practice instead of 17 as its stand says.
- Slicer used Kraken’s tooltip when it released, likely because the developers forgot to change it.
- Its badge description used to say, "I want to leave this place." This is most likely to avoid spoiling the glove's obtainment.
- There was a bug with this glove since the Null Update where the ability's tentacle did infinite knockback. This has since been patched.

- If you go to the boss fight during the Halloween event and go back, the sky will go back to normal instead of being Halloween night it should be.
- The same thing happens with the Retro Obby.
- This is useful for getting gloves like Psycho during the Halloween event, as it is hard to see with the dark skybox.
- If you reset right when you are sent to the boss fight, you will keep the sea blue overlay while playing the game.
- The abyss has the same barrels as the one in cannon island and in Prop’s ability.
- There used to be a bug where when you got hit by a kraken tentacle, you would never fall back down, forcing you to reset. This happened to Coil as well as a few other glove abilities.
- Kraken's ability is used as an attack whilst fighting the Guide.
- Kraken is the most common glove mesh used for creating new gloves by developers
- The Abyss shares a name with a slap effect, and it is currently the only glove obtainment place to do so.
- This glove is the only one to share a texture with an admin glove that isn't based on it.
